For two weeks, an orange and white cat named Galante found himself outside, desperately trying to return to his home. Lost and confused, he wandered around a building, waiting for a chance to return.

According to Little Wanderers NYC, “This friendly cat got out of a first-floor window. When he tried to return inside the apartment, his owner wouldn’t let him.” Galante had lived as an ‘indoor/outdoor cat’ for over a year, but circumstances had left him in a tough spot.

Fortunately, compassionate tenants had been feeding Galante during his time outside. However, with thunderstorms and fireworks looming, they knew finding him a safe place was urgent.

A volunteer rescuer from Little Wanderers NYC took action, determined to bring the frightened cat to safety.

Galante was shy and often hid in the bushes, using his survival instincts. A humane trap baited with food was set near his hiding spot to capture him.

After some time, Galante cautiously emerged and began inspecting the trap, carefully stepping in and out a few times.

Eventually, hunger improved, and he ventured inside for the food. Once secured, he was taken to the vet for his needed care.

Although understandably scared from his experience, Galante’s life soon turned positive. When Shane and Becca, a couple with a love for cats, learned about his situation, they quickly offered to foster him.

Galante reminded them of their cat, Reggie, and they created a cozy, quiet room for him, complete with plenty of food and soft beds. They spoke softly to him, allowing him the time and space to adjust.

Gradually, Galante began to explore his new surroundings. He enjoyed the many napping spots, tasty treats, a variety of toys, and a large cardboard box to play in.

That first night, he snuggled into his cozy bed surrounded by a blanket fort, finally catching up on lost sleep. The days of hiding were behind him, and he felt safe under a roof with caring humans.

As time passed, Galante blossomed into a loving companion for Shane and Becca and a gentle friend to their resident cats.

He took to the office chair, happily sitting on it to “keep it warm.” According to his foster parents, “He is very affectionate and social and enjoys looking out the window. He likes other cats and is a sweet, gentle, polite kitty who is incredibly smart and responsive.”

After fending for himself for so long, Galante has returned to his rightful place as a beloved pet. “He is so happy to be rescued.

He will never want for a home ever again,” they shared, celebrating his new life filled with love and care.
