While vacationing in Savannah, Rebecca Lynch and her husband stopped on their way back from Georgia, not for souvenirs but for something far more significant.

During their trip, Rebecca learned about several animal shelters in the area, prompting her to adopt a local cat. However, her plans soon shifted when she discovered a terrier named Lizzie.

Lizzie had narrowly escaped euthanasia after her previous owners brought her to the shelter, fully aware that the pregnant dog faced imminent death. To make matters worse, Lizzie had also suffered a broken leg.

Rebecca felt strong compassion for Lizzie, recognizing that this resilient little dog deserved a loving home.

As they drove away from the shelter, Lizzie lay comfortably on a blanket in the back seat of the Lynch family’s vehicle. Although initially anxious, she soon realized she was safe with her new family.

However, during the journey to the vet, an unexpected event unfolded: Lizzie went into labor. Perhaps she sensed she was finally in a caring environment, or it was simply her time to become a mother.

Rebecca, now Lizzie’s owner, took on the role of midwife, assisting in the birthing process. Lizzie gave birth to three puppies while en route to the vet, with another puppy arriving during the examination. Two more puppies were born on the way back home.

Lizzie and her puppies are healthy but require a few days at the veterinary clinic for a thorough check-up.

Once they were cleared, the family returned home, where they prepared a comfortable space for Lizzie and her new litter.

Once the puppies are old enough and stronger, Rebecca plans to find loving homes for each.
