Caring for a paralyzed pet can be incredibly challenging, which is why many owners choose to abandon their disabled animals. Such was the fate of Lunetta, a sweet little dog left on Salta, Argentina’s streets.

Fortunately, a compassionate staff member from a local dog care facility discovered Lunetta lying helplessly on the sidewalk.

Alarmed by her condition, they quickly contacted the rescue group Luba Salta. Two volunteers arrived promptly to assess her health and bring her to safety.

Lunetta had been tied to a rail near the dog care establishment, her hind legs bound to a rusty wheelchair.

Next to her lay a bag of diapers and a note detailing her name, age, and the unfortunate circumstances of her abandonment.

Her previous owners explained they could no longer care for her, but shockingly, they left her without food or water.

After her rescue, Lunetta was taken to a shelter and later placed in a foster home. The volunteers shared her story on Facebook, hoping to find a loving family.

Eventually, an American family contacted the rescue group and offered Lunetta a permanent home.

Sadly, Lunetta’s situation did not improve in her new environment. Her family lacked the knowledge to care for a disabled dog, leading to her being neglected and subsequently developing a severe staphylococcal infection. She required extensive medical treatment to recover from this setback.

Fortunately, after her initial struggles, another American family stepped in to adopt Lunetta. She blossomed into one of the happiest dogs with their support and proper care.

Lunetta enjoyed playing with her dog sister, exploring parks in her specially designed wheelchair, frolicking in the snow, and celebrating Christmas.

Tragically, just a month after celebrating her 11th birthday, Lunetta fell ill and had to be admitted to the intensive care unit at the University Medical Hospital. Surrounded by her loved ones, she fought for her life but ultimately passed away.

In a heartfelt message on Facebook, Lunetta’s mother wrote, “I will never forget her and how much she meant to me. It has affected my life forever. I loved her very much.”

Lunetta’s life journey serves as a powerful testament to resilience and love. While her story ended too soon, the last year of her life was filled with joy and warmth.
