When Little Wanderers NYC, an animal rescue organization, received a call about a litter of kittens found outdoors, they quickly sprang into action. Volunteers organized the rescue and safely brought the feline family to safety.

Among the kittens was a small runt missing a paw, who displayed remarkable spirit despite his size. Tatiana and Andrew, a couple grieving the recent loss of their beloved cat, Garfield, felt a strong urge to help when they learned the family needed a foster home.

“When I saw a picture of the kittens and their sick mom needing help, I knew it was Mr. Garfield reaching out and telling me to help them,” Tatiana explained.

The couple dedicated themselves to caring for the kittens, syringe-feeding them, and providing essential support.

As the other kittens grew stronger, the little tripod named Holland concentrated on gaining weight for his upcoming surgery.

He had a special bond with his orange tabby brother, Little Garfield, who resembled their late cat. Little Garfield was always by Holland’s side, nurturing him and playing gently.

Despite his challenges, Holland refused to be outdone by his siblings. He attempted to climb out of the playpen using only three legs, showcasing his determination.

With the love and nutritious food provided by his foster parents, Holland nearly caught up to his siblings, preparing for surgery to remove the stump of his leg and enhance his quality of life.

Post-surgery, Holland’s resilience impressed the veterinary staff. “While most of us would be recuperating very slowly, this tiny kitten barely noticed he only had three legs,” they remarked.

His siblings rallied around him, providing warmth and comfort during his recovery. Little Garfield became Holland’s “greatest protector,” rarely leaving his side.

After a few months of dedicated care, Holland fully recovered and blossomed into a lively, energetic kitten.

Tatiana said, “Fostering Little Garfield, Holland, and their two siblings brought me back to life. Little Garfield looks exactly like my angel Garfield, and his behavior is very similar.”

Ultimately, the couple decided to adopt both Holland and Little Garfield. Their two other siblings also found a loving forever home together, and their mother cat was placed with a caring family that helped her adjust to indoor life.

“I am very thankful to Little Wanderers for rescuing my kittens. Holland would not have survived without their help, and he is the most rambunctious sweet kitten ever,” Tatiana reflected.
