When Rusty and Anna decide to foster Hero, they quickly bond with him. Despite his rough past, Hero was affectionate and playful, winning the hearts of everyone he met.
The couple introduced Hero to their family dog, Sugar Bear, to ensure a smooth transition. The two dogs got along remarkably well, leading Rusty and Anna to adopt Hero permanently.
Hero’s desire for affection was evident; he loved being petted by Rusty and would gently nudge him if he stopped.
Despite Hero’s initial reluctance to show affection through kisses, Rusty devised a clever solution.
He used a hamburger to encourage Hero to kiss him, which worked perfectly—Hero began to show his affection exclusively to Rusty.
Hero developed a strong bond with Rusty, recognizing the sound of his car and eagerly awaiting his return home with excitement and joy.
On the other hand, Anna took on the role of primary caregiver. Hero was so devoted to her that he would follow her everywhere, even to the bathroom.
The couple’s recent fostering of a dog named Miss Daisy further highlighted their love for dogs. They wish they could have met Hero earlier in his life but are grateful for their time with him. Hero’s story is a testament to the transformative power of love and care for senior shelter dogs.
