Kind Officer Rescues Abandoned Dog from the Rain (VIDEO)
“Giving kisses?” Officer Michael Pascale of the NYPD gently asks a small dog on-screen. This isn’t their first meeting.
During his routine patrol, Officer Pascale spotted a small dog tied to a fence in the rain. Concerned for the abandoned pup, he decided to help. “I don’t just see an animal; I see a soul. And that’s not something I turn away from,” Pascale said.

He took the dog, named Joey, to the Animal Care Center of NYC (ACC), where Joey was dried off and warmed up.
Pascale sent a photo of Joey to his wife, who immediately responded, “Bring him home!” However, ACC required a 72-hour waiting period for the original owner to claim the dog.
Fortunately, no one came forward for Joey. In the video, Pascale and Joey’s bond is evident as the dog cuddles and falls asleep on Pascale’s hand. Pascale visited Joey for the next two days and finally took him home on the fourth day.
Joey has adapted well to his new life with Papa Pascale and his wife. He loves his new home and is enjoying a happy, loved life. “With all due respect to all the partners I have at work, [he] is my number one partner,” Pascale proudly says.
