Senior Dog Finds a Loving Home After 19 Years
Ace, a spirited 19-year-old dog with one blue eye and one brown eye, recently captured hearts with his infectious smile and surprising energy.
Despite his age, Ace’s story dramatically changed when he surrendered to the Sonoma Animal Shelter.
Due to the California wildfires, Ace was relocated 150 miles away to the SPCA, where he remained unclaimed and without a caretaker.
His future seemed uncertain until he crossed paths with Bonnie, a compassionate older woman with a penchant for fostering dogs.
Understanding Ace’s challenges in finding a permanent home because of his age, Bonnie decided to foster him. She aimed to provide comfort and care for Ace until he could be adopted into a “forever home.”
Adjusting to his new surroundings, Ace initially kept to himself, showing little interest in his puppy roommates and favoring toys over playtime with other dogs.
However, a necessary dental procedure left him unable to enjoy his toys, prompting him to engage more with his fellow dogs and greet Bonnie when she returned home.
As Ace grew more comfortable and friendly, Bonnie’s affection for him deepened. Ultimately, she decided to adopt Ace, offering him a loving, permanent home. Welcome home, Ace!
