Baby Chimpanzees Help Transform a Sick Puppy into a Happy Dog
Jenny and Jimmy Desmon, founders of the Liberia Chimp Rescue and Protection, dedicate their efforts to rescuing animals across West Africa.
During a trip through a remote village, Jenny and her team came across a severely ill puppy named Snafu.
Recognizing the situation’s urgency, Jenny brought Snafu to their animal sanctuary, where Jimmy provided immediate medical care.
The puppy was in poor condition—malnourished and infested with ticks and fleas, with multiple infections. Despite the severity of Snafu’s condition, Jimmy was hopeful for his recovery.
Within a few days, Snafu’s health improved; his eyes grew brighter, and his skin started to heal.
Once stable, it was time to introduce Snafu to the chimpanzees at the sanctuary. The couple was uncertain how the chimpanzees would react to the new arrival.
To their delight, the baby chimpanzees took an immediate liking to Snafu. They treated him like one of their own, playing with him and cuddling him affectionately.
As Snafu grew, he outpaced the chimpanzees in size, but they continued to watch over him with great care.
With Snafu’s health restored, Jenny decided it was time for him to find a permanent home. She reached out to her nieces, who agreed to adopt Snafu and two other dogs.
Now, Snafu lives happily in Colorado with his new family, enjoying his second chance at life, thanks to the care and companionship provided by the sanctuary’s chimpanzees and their devoted owners.
