Sean McCormack, the founder of Animal Care Trust, and Ross Tweedie, owner of Taiwan Adventures, recently undertook a challenging rescue mission in a remote Taiwanese village. They learned of a sick dog in desperate need of help and decided to take action.

Despite warnings about the difficulty of accessing the village, which could only be reached on foot, Sean and Ross were determined to rescue the dog.

They ignored the risks and embarked on the demanding journey, aiming to bring the animal down the mountain for the medical care he desperately needed.

Both men were experienced hikers, but the trail was notoriously hazardous. It took them nearly four and a half hours to reach the village, arriving early in the morning.

Upon arrival, they had no information about the dog’s condition and were anxious about the possibility of not reaching him in time.

Their concern grew when they arrived at the guest house and found no sign of the dog. After a thorough search, they discovered him hiding under a pile of chairs.

The dog, later named Sandy, was severely weakened and in pain. He instinctively sought comfort from Sean, resting his head on Sean’s lap, which was unusual even for a friendly dog.

Sean and Ross immediately started treating Sandy’s wounds, and the dog seemed to understand they were there to help. The primary concern was ensuring Sandy could be safely transported down the mountain.

Sandy proved to be a well-behaved companion throughout the descent. Once back at their starting point, they took Sandy to the vet, who unfortunately determined that amputation of his legs was necessary. Despite this setback, Sandy’s condition gradually improved.

The rescue story caught the attention of Bob, a local restaurant owner who reached out to Sean through social media.

Moved by the rescue effort, Bob invited Sean to his restaurant and offered to foster Sandy. Eventually, Bob adopted Sandy, providing him with a loving new home.
