Stray Dog in Romania Finds a Loving Home After Following People for Help
A small stray dog, later named Lily, wandered the streets of a Romanian city, seeking attention from passersby.
Like many stray dogs, Lily had learned to navigate life on the streets, but her proximity to busy roads put her at constant risk.
The volunteers from “Howl of a Dog,” a local animal rescue organization, noticed Lily’s plight and approached her with treats. Their gentle approach helped Lily relax, and she soon realized they meant no harm.
With patience and plenty of treats, a volunteer placed a leash on her. Lily allowed herself to be petted and was soon taken to a vet for a check-up.
Lily quickly bonded with the volunteer, even falling asleep during the car ride to the veterinary clinic.
Upon arrival, Lily was weighed, coming in at about 10.5 kilograms. The vet scanned her for a microchip, a requirement for all dogs in Romania, but found none.
During the examination, the vet discovered chewing gum stuck in Lily’s fur, which was promptly removed. At around two years old, Lily was generally healthy but had a few issues that needed attention.
Her fur was infested with lice and fleas, so she received medication to eliminate the pests. Blood tests showed her overall health was good, and she was prescribed vitamins and supplements to boost her immune system.
Lily was then taken to the “Howl of a Dog” shelter, where she received a bath on her first day. She also learned how to walk on a leash for the first time.
Though initially confused, she soon began to wag her tail timidly during a walk in the park. Later, Lily underwent spay surgery at a pet hospital.
Today, Lily is a happy, playful dog, enjoying every moment of her new life. A loving family soon adopted her in Germany, where she thrives.
