Tourist Drives 310 Miles to Rescue Abandoned Dog Left in the Snow (VIDEO)

A dog, later named Indy, was discovered abandoned in front of a hotel located in a mountain pass in Northern Romania.

The hotel owner, concerned that the dog might deter guests, repeatedly chased her away and even instructed his staff not to feed her.

Despite this, a compassionate tourist noticed Indy and decided to step in.

The individuals who left Indy in that harsh environment may have hoped she would find shelter or be taken in by the hotel staff.

However, abandoning her in freezing temperatures that dipped as low as minus 20°F was a dangerous and inhumane choice.

The tourist began feeding Indy daily, bringing her a crate and a warm blanket to help her survive the cold nights.

Although he couldn’t adopt her himself due to having other pets, he was determined not to leave without ensuring her safety.

He contacted various rescue organizations and eventually connected with “Howl of a Dog.” Despite the mountain resort being over 300 miles away from the shelter, the tourists offered to drive Indy to the volunteers.

His vacation quickly turned into a mission to save her. While Indy was friendly, she was initially reluctant to enter the crate.

After several unsuccessful attempts, the tourist managed to coax her into the crate, likely giving her the first warm place to sleep in a long time.

When Indy arrived at the shelter, the volunteers checked for a microchip but found none. Estimated to be around five years old, her teeth showed significant wear, more typical of a much older dog.

A thorough examination, including blood tests and an ultrasound, revealed that Indy was in relatively good health.

She soon underwent a successful spay surgery and started her recovery at the “Howl of a Dog” shelter.

Indy was still shy, so the volunteers allowed her to adjust to her new surroundings at her own pace.

Indy showed little interest in toys, likely because she had never experienced play before, but the volunteers were optimistic that she would learn.

Over time, she began picking up new tricks and forming friendships with other dogs. Indy, now renamed Maple, recently found a loving home in the United States.
