Little Melanie and Her Dog Siblings Share an Adorable Daily Routine
Hillary and her partner have dedicated their lives to rescuing dogs, sharing their home with six rescued canines and their charming daughter, Melanie.
The bond between Melanie and her furry siblings is heartwarming, with the little girl and her dogs engaging in a delightful daily routine.
Melanie and her dogs follow a unique feeding ritual. Each dog eats their meals in a special high chair, and Melanie takes great pleasure in helping them get settled and bringing their home-cooked meals to them.
This approach was chosen because the dogs suffer from megaesophagus, which impairs their ability to swallow food normally.
Their weakened muscles prevent them from moving food and water efficiently, so the high chairs help guide the food into their stomachs.
The dogs let their family know when it’s mealtime by howling enthusiastically around the house. They each have neck pillows, providing comfort and a sense of security. Among the six, Penny, a young Husky rescue, is the family’s newest member.
Training Penny to use her chair took just a day or two. Hillary has a history of rescuing puppies and has been contacted by various rescue teams to assist puppies born with megaesophagus.
When Penny arrived, she was the easiest and most endearing puppy the family had ever cared for. All the dogs are of similar age, and the family feels incredibly fortunate to have them.
