Retired Service Dog and Soldier Reunited After Two Years

Retired service dog Taylor and her former handler, Sergeant Tom Hanson, reunited joyfully after a two-year separation.

Taylor, a yellow Labrador, spent her entire career serving in the military, earning her the affectionate nicknames “Princess Taylor” and “Tay-Tay” from her team.

Throughout her distinguished service, Taylor completed two tours in Afghanistan. Her impressive work was so impactful that even the Taliban placed a bounty on her head.

When service dogs retire, they are generally adopted by their handlers. However, relocating these dogs can be complex and expensive, sometimes costing thousands of dollars. This is where Molli Oliver, a former United Airlines flight attendant, played a crucial role.

Driven by her passion for supporting military personnel, Oliver has made it her mission to reunite retired service dogs with their handlers at her own expense. Thanks to Oliver’s efforts, Taylor was fortunate to travel in first class.

As Taylor arrived, Sergeant Hanson anxiously awaited at the airport. He shared that being apart from Taylor had left a void in his life, and reuniting with her would bring him a sense of completeness.

The emotional moment unfolded as Taylor sprinted toward Hanson upon seeing him. Their heartfelt embrace was a testament to their strong bond.
