From Shivering to Thriving: Stray Dog Yukon Finds Hope and Healing in Foster Care
A stray husky mix found on the streets of Houston, Texas, was rescued just in time from a life-threatening condition.
Within 24 hours of being found, the dog was taken into the care of Caitie, a foster parent, and given a second chance at life.
Due to advanced mange, passers-by had mistaken the poor dog for a coyote, which likely contributed to people ignoring him for so long, Caitie explained. His condition was severe, leaving him weak, exhausted, and in desperate need of help.
Once in Caitie’s care, the dog—named Yukon—was given an unsalted meat patty as a treat. He was timid and worn out, needing time to rest and recover from both his illness and the struggles of living on the streets.
With proper nourishment and care over the next few days, Yukon began to improve. He regained his strength, and his playful side started to emerge as he interacted with other dogs in Caitie’s home.
His mange healed, and his fur grew back, marking a significant turnaround in his health and well-being.
Yukon’s journey from homelessness to recovery has been remarkable. He’s now a healthy and affectionate dog, ready for a loving forever home. If you’re interested in adopting Yukon, you can find more information on the Chip N’ Snip website.
