Fluffy Kitten Finds New Life and Love After Being Rescued from the Streets
A small kitten once lost and alone on the streets, has found a new life filled with warmth and affection. Brought to an animal shelter late last month, this kitten was barely a pound at 7-8 weeks old, with little more than her fluffy coat to protect her.
When she was found, the kitten had an injured lip and was covered in dirt. “We believe she was scavenging from garbage bins to survive, which explains her mouth injuries. She needed a thorough bath to get clean,” explained Homeward Bound Cat.
Ellen Richter, a volunteer with Homeward Bound Cat, took the kitten into her care, bundling her up in a blanket. That first night in her foster home, the kitten experienced love and kindness for the first time.
Despite her rough beginnings, the kitten was incredibly friendly and began purring as soon as Ellen held her. With a warm bed, a full belly, and a roof over her head, she was content.
Wrapped in a blanket on Ellen’s lap, her purring intensified. Ellen described her as looking like a “cream puff and chocolate swirl tiramisu.” With help from the online community, she was named Carmella Cream Puff.
Carmella was too small to climb onto Ellen’s lap by herself, but she quickly learned to use pet stairs to reach her. She would squeak for cuddles and to be tucked into a blanket, her purring constant.
After a long bath and some grooming to remove the dirt and mats from her fur, Carmella looked like a fluffy cloud. With a fresh coat and a hearty appetite, she began to gain weight, and her personality started to shine.
Every time Ellen entered the room, Carmella would spring out of bed, climb down the pet stairs, and head straight for her foster mom. She would purr and chirp until she was comfortably nestled on Ellen’s lap or shoulders, acting like a little supervisor.
Carmella’s playful and adventurous side emerged as she showed interest in toys and her surroundings. After meals, she would burst with energy, pouncing around like a floating cloud. She also enjoyed a new scratcher and spent much of her time either playing or napping in Ellen’s lap.
In just two weeks, Carmella made impressive progress. Her fur became soft and shiny, her appetite grew, and her mischievous and adventurous nature was on full display.
Carmella has captured the hearts of many on social media with her tiny but strong personality, adorable face, and endless purring. She seamlessly transitions from playful antics to cuddly purr-fests, keeping her foster mom entertained.
Thanks to her second chance in a foster home, the once-skinny street kitten has transformed into a purring, cuddly companion.
