Timid Kittens Learn to Trust After Rescue and Welcome a Lonely Street Kitten into Their Family
Two shy kittens have discovered a new lease on life after being rescued, even going as far as accepting a stray kitten into their close-knit group.
The kittens, Cinnamon and Nutmeg, were taken in by the Winston Memorial Foundation in Kuwait when their previous owners could no longer care for them. Both kittens were initially fearful, especially the brown tabby, Cinnamon, who hid and hissed at any attempt to approach her.

“They hadn’t been socialized and were quite defensive, but they slowly began to relax in their foster home,” said Laila D’Souza, founder of the rescue, in an interview with Love Meow.
In an effort to win Cinnamon’s trust, Laila gently offered food from her fingers. At first hesitant, the kitten couldn’t resist the smell and eventually started eating. As she nibbled away, her fear began to fade, and both she and Nutmeg grew more comfortable in their new surroundings. Over time, the pair blossomed into affectionate, playful kittens.
Cinnamon, who was once too scared to interact, became the more outgoing of the two. She now confidently approaches people, seeking attention and affection. Nutmeg, following her lead, became just as sociable.
Around the same time, Laila received a call about a tiny, malnourished kitten found wandering the streets. The gray kitten, later named Edward, was just 4-5 weeks old and in desperate need of help. Laila couldn’t refuse and took him in.
Despite his rough start, Edward’s loving personality quickly emerged. “He would leap into my lap before getting his zoomies and would meow endlessly when left alone,” Laila shared.
Edward needed companionship, and Laila thought Cinnamon and Nutmeg might be the perfect match for him. When the kittens met, they clicked immediately. Edward was overjoyed to have friends to play with, and Cinnamon and Nutmeg welcomed him as if he had always been part of their group.
Now, the three kittens are inseparable, filling their space with constant purrs and playful meows. “Cinnamon, who once hissed at everyone, now melts in my hands. She’s incredibly loving, and their playful chirps are the sweetest thing,” Laila said.
Soon, the trio will travel to the U.S., where a partner rescue, EmiliexFosters, will help them find their forever homes. Edward, now thriving, has grown and developed a darker coat, with his personality continuing to shine.
These kittens, once timid and afraid, are now thriving thanks to their second chance at life, enjoying every moment and seeking out the love and attention they’ve come to adore.
