Dog Rescued After Week on Cliff Ledge in Scottish Highlands

After spending seven days stranded on a narrow cliff ledge in the Scottish Highlands, a mountain rescue team rescued a nine-and-a-half-stone Cane Corso named Loki.

The operation culminated in Loki being hoisted to safety in a rubble sack and reunited with his relieved owners.

Loki went missing on July 7 after running from a campsite near Kinlochbervie in Sutherland. Despite extensive search efforts, including community support and the use of a drone, there were no signs of him until a passer-by heard his desperate barks echoing from below the cliff edge.

On Sunday, a team from Assynt Mountain Rescue was dispatched after Police Scotland alerted them to the situation.

Upon locating Loki on the ledge, they executed a plan to lift him safely using an empty one-ton aggregate sack.

Remarkably, Loki emerged from his ordeal uninjured and in relatively good condition, having survived solely on rainwater.

The rescue operation occurred around midnight, with team members carefully assessing the situation before successfully bringing Loki to safety.
