Heartwarming Story: Man Dedicates Life to Adopting Senior Dogs in Need of Homes
Steve Greig, an accountant from Colorado, has taken on a unique and heartwarming mission. He shares his home with ten senior dogs, along with two cats, a pig named Bikini, two ducks, two pigeons, two chickens, and a rabbit.
Greig’s devotion to these animals, especially older dogs who struggle to find permanent homes, is inspiring.
Growing up surrounded by pets, Greig’s love for animals was encouraged by his parents, who allowed him to have pets as long as he could care for them.
He typically had three or four dogs when he moved into his home. However, his commitment to animal rescue deepened after the death of one of his beloved pets.
“I was genuinely scared about it passing,” Greig said, reflecting on his grief. Even months later, he remained heartbroken.
Seeking a way to heal, he decided to do something extraordinary that wouldn’t have been possible if his pet hadn’t passed away. This led him to adopt a 12-year-old Chihuahua named Eeyore from a local shelter.
Eeyore, who had a heart murmur and mobility issues, was the least likely to be adopted, but this was only the beginning of Greig’s journey.
Now, Greig cares for ten dogs, though only eight of them are his; the other two belong to his sister and a roommate.
His commitment is evident in his daily routine—Greig wakes up at 5 a.m. daily to prepare different meals for each of his pets, ensuring that all their dietary needs are met.
Greig’s story is a touching example of selflessness and dedication, showing how one person’s love and commitment can transform the lives of many animals.
