Meet Marley, the Dog Who’s Turning Heads as a Tiger Thanks to a Creative Pet Groomer and Her Son
Marley the dog is living on the wild side after her owner, Jodie Johnson, and her 10-year-old son, Flynn, transformed her into a tiger. Johnson, who runs a pet grooming business in Mosman on Sydney’s north shore, developed the idea while attending a pet grooming color training course.
Inspired by her son’s love for tigers, they spent two days carefully applying non-toxic, semi-permanent hair dye to give Marley her striking striped look.
Johnson assures that the dye used on Marley is safe and has been clinically tested for dogs. “Dogs see color differently from humans, so they are essentially color blind,” she told Daily Mail Australia.
“Marley probably doesn’t realize she looks different but enjoys the extra pats and attention she gets on walks.”
Flynn and his friends love Marley’s new appearance and enjoy showing off their “tiger” when they take her on walks to popular spots like Balmoral Beach and The Spit.
The fun makeover has also caught the attention of passersby, who often stop to admire Marley’s unique look. “People love it; it brings smiles to everyone’s faces,” Johnson said.
The transformation has inspired Johnson to offer similar services through her pet grooming business.
Due to the positive reactions, she plans to create custom designs for special occasions, such as sporting events or birthday parties.
“The dye is harmless and makes people happy,” Johnson added. “It’s been wonderful to see how much joy it brings.”
As for Marley, she will eventually return to her usual look as the color fades naturally and disappears after her next grooming session. Until then, Marley happily enjoys her time as the neighborhood’s only “tiger.”
