Cat Rescued from Streets Gives Birth to Kittens Just 48 Hours Later
A friendly calico cat was spotted wandering the streets, her round belly hinting at an upcoming arrival.
A compassionate passerby noticed the cat’s condition and realized she was likely pregnant. Recognizing her need for shelter, the kind stranger quickly took her to one of Best Friends Felines’ partner veterinarians.
The cat, later named Shannon, had no microchip, and no one came forward to claim her. How she ended up outside is unclear, but she was grateful to be in a safe place.
She was soon placed in a foster home, where she settled in quickly, showing her affectionate nature by purring and snuggling with her caregivers.
Just two days after arriving at her foster home, Shannon surprised her caregivers by going into labor. It seemed she had been searching for a safe place to give birth, and once she felt secure, she knew it was time.
Shannon delivered five healthy kittens, each with a strong appetite. The litter included two tuxedo kittens, two tabbies, and one dark ginger and white kitten, weighing between 109-116 grams.
Throughout her labor, Shannon showed remarkable trust in her human helpers. She delivered her first kitten in her caregiver’s lap before returning to her birthing area.
She allowed her foster family to assist with cleaning and warming her newborns, appreciating their support as she brought her kittens into the world.
Now a devoted mother, Shannon is attentive and loving, always watching her babies.
As her kittens grow, they become more active, and Shannon tends to their needs at the first sign of a peep.
It will still be a little while before their eyes open, but soon they will explore the world beyond their cozy nest.
Shannon ensures her kittens are well-fed, clean, and surrounded by love. Once her motherly duties are complete, she will be ready to find her forever home.
Thanks to the kind actions of a stranger, Shannon found safety just in time for her kittens, who are now thriving in a warm, loving environment.
