The Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County stumbled upon a dire situation in the Eatonville area of Washington State.

A Labrador Retriever named Timber, merely eight months old, was discovered on April 3, 2024, in a state of profound distress. Unable to even walk, his condition elicited immediate action.

Laura Green, a marketing coordinator for the shelter, described Timber’s condition as alarming. Sunken eyes, lethargy, severe dehydration, and an elevated heart rate painted a grim picture.

Yet, the ominous presence of canine parvovirus overshadowed these concerns—a virulent threat to young pups like Timber.

Canine parvovirus, known for its destructive impact on canine health, posed a grave danger. Prompt intervention was imperative, as Timber’s life hung in the balance.

Fortunately, fate intervened as compassionate souls crossed his path, whisking him away from the brink of despair.

Rescue efforts saved Timber’s life and ignited a glimmer of hope. Immediate medical attention became his lifeline, setting him on recovery. Despite this pivotal intervention, his journey to wellness remains arduous.

“While Timber’s rescue marks a triumph, the road ahead is long,” remarked Green. “Yet, his gentle demeanor and cooperation amidst treatment inspire optimism.”

Grateful for a second chance, Timber awaits his next chapter—a foster home offering solace and care.

This temporary refuge promises healing and affection for a dog beset by physical ailment and emotional wounds.
