Heartbreaking Story: Fearful Puppy Returned to Shelter, Needs a New Hope
At the BARC Animal Shelter in Houston, Texas, the chances of restoring an 11-month-old puppy’s faith in humans are dwindling.
Scarlett, a Labrador retriever mix, was rescued from being euthanized by a foster home just two weeks ago.
However, the foster parents have since admitted they lack the experience to care for such a fearful and withdrawn dog.
Scarlett arrived at the shelter as a stray on May 10, 2023, weighing 45 pounds. From the moment she arrived, she exhibited signs of severe fear. She would retreat to a corner, refuse treats, and tremble whenever someone approached her.
Initially scheduled for euthanasia on May 15, Scarlett was saved by a BARC foster just in time. Unfortunately, despite their best intentions, the foster family has decided to return her to the shelter, realizing that Scarlett needs more specialized care than they can provide.
Scarlett’s situation is dire but not hopeless. She needs an experienced foster caregiver who can work patiently with her and help her overcome her fear.
The shelter urgently seeks someone who can offer Scarlett the understanding and care she needs.
Please share Scarlett’s story with your social media networks, family, friends, and reputable rescue organizations. Spreading the word can help save her life.
