Ohio Law Enforcement Bids Emotional Farewell to K9 Hero Tommy

Law enforcement officers and their canine companions gathered to honor K9 Tommy, a German Shepherd who served the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for seven years.

Tommy was euthanized due to an aggressive, untreatable cancer that caused him significant pain and prevented him from performing basic activities.

In a solemn ceremony, Tommy was carried on a stretcher draped with a flag as officers and their dogs stood in silence.

Officer Jeremy Berger and his family were deeply moved as they said their last goodbyes. The final radio call resonated with everyone present: “You were a faithful partner to 3280, Officer Tommy. Thank you for being a good boy and protecting your partner and the citizens of Ohio. Your watch has now ended. Rest well. You are gone but never forgotten.”
