A woman named Chloe experienced a surprise after purchasing her new home: she inherited a cat. Shortly after bringing the feline inside, she discovered a litter of kittens.

Chloe acquired her house last year, complete with its contents, but she was unaware it came with a resident cat.

While sharing her story on TikTok (@chloeisag), she noticed a tortoiseshell cat frequently roaming her backyard, making herself home.

In a video, Chloe explained that she had never owned pets growing up but was keen to befriend the stray.

She initially tried to feed the cat some canned food, but the tortie remained cautious and kept her distance. When Chloe checked back later, she found the food had been eaten.

Spotting the cat lounging outside, she quickly prepared another meal and continued to feed her regularly.

Gradually, the tortie grew more comfortable and approached Chloe, eventually allowing her to pet her.

The cat began “knocking” on the door for food and attention as their bond strengthened. Despite her growing affection for the tortie, Chloe hesitated to adopt her, as she had not intended to take on any additional responsibilities beyond caring for her plants.

Then, one day, a coworker gifted her a case of cat food that had been mistakenly ordered. The tortie devoured every bite, and Chloe interpreted this as a sign to keep her.

While organizing her home, Chloe discovered a photo of the previous owner’s cats, one of which resembled the tortie. This felt like fate.

When her sister, allergic to cats, moved in, they realized she wasn’t allergic to the tortie, which encouraged Chloe to take the cat inside.

“My sister finally convinced me to take in the ‘stray’ cat lingering in the backyard. After we brought her inside, we were surprised,” Chloe said.

To Chloe’s astonishment, she woke up one morning to find five kittens in her home. The tortie, affectionately named Finders Keepers, had given birth to her litter in the safety of their house. The family was surprised but relieved that the mother and her kittens were safe.

Finders Keepers nurtured her kittens with love, keeping them fed and clean. As they grew, the kittens began to explore their surroundings, displaying playful energy and curiosity.

By the time they were weaned, they had wonderful forever homes waiting for them. Mama Finders Keepers was spayed, ensuring she wouldn’t have to raise another litter.

Four of the kittens found new families and claimed their new territories, while the fifth kitten, Squid, decided to stay and became a permanent member of Chloe’s family.

Now, Squid enjoys basking in the sun alongside Mama Finders Keepers, embracing their happy life together.

Chloe’s experience highlights how buying a house can come with surprises, turning into an adventure that includes a cat and her adorable kittens. “This is truly the house that keeps giving,” she remarked.
