Energetic Cat with Healed Paw Inspires Fellow Kittens to Join in the Fun
A lively tabby kitten named Kickers, overjoyed after her paw was fixed, now runs around and encourages her siblings to play along.
Chatons Orphelins Montreal took in kickers and her five siblings. Four of the kittens had leg deformities that affected their ability to move normally, but they were determined to live more actively.
At about seven weeks old, they arrived at their foster home, immediately seeking comfort and affection from their caretakers.
Despite their mobility challenges, the kittens eagerly tried to scoot around, keen on exploring like any other playful cats. Kickers, with one bent front paw, hobbled over to her caregivers whenever they entered the room.
“Kickers had one paw that curved inward, unlike her siblings, who had deformities in both legs. We fitted her with a splint as soon as she arrived,” the rescue group shared.
Within a day, Kickers adapted to the splint and soon scampered around as if nothing had changed.
Meanwhile, her siblings also received treatment to correct their leg issues. “We used their growth spurts to help reposition their paws and improve their mobility.”
The kittens, now protected by bandages, were more comfortable moving around. As her ability to move improved, Kickers’ adventurous personality began to shine. “Her big back paws, complete with extra toes, only add to her charm when she walks,” said the rescue.
Her hind paws, which have different colored toe beans, are proudly displayed whenever she seeks attention.
With her newfound mobility, Kickers started encouraging her siblings to join the fun. She would lead them to play and exercise, helping them build strength in their legs.
One of her sisters, Bottine, who had two twisted front legs, often lounged on the couch. But with a nudge from Kickers, Bottine would join in, exploring and playing despite the bandages. The siblings even climbed mountains of pillows together.
Kickers also keeps her two brothers, Paxx and Maxou, entertained, making sure no one feels left out. After just ten days, her paw had almost completely straightened.
“She was so excited to run around and play like any other kitten,” the rescue noted. Her leg gained significant strength, and today, her front leg is about 80% straight.
Kickers has grown into a confident and curious cat, always the first to investigate anything new. “She’s so full of life and incredibly close to her siblings. When they want to nap, they cuddle up with us, purring contentedly,” the foster team shared.
Kickers’ mischievous and affectionate personality makes her a constant source of energy, and she never wants to miss a moment of fun.
Despite the challenges she faces early in life, Kickers is a bundle of joy, brightening up every space she enters and encouraging her siblings to enjoy life as much as she does.
She’s a social butterfly who gets along with other cats and even dogs, making her the ultimate purring companion.
Thanks to the love and care from her rescuers, Kickers and her siblings are now thriving, fully embracing the joys of kittenhood.
