Dogs at a rescue shelter recently warmed hearts after a staff member captured a touching video of them reacting to a room full of Christmas toys.

Dog Trust Ireland, a leading dog welfare charity in Ireland, is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs of all breeds and sizes. The shelter staff work tirelessly to ensure each dog is happy and eventually finds a forever home.

Dog Trust Ireland temporarily halts adoptions every Christmas for a few days to celebrate “Santa Paws Day.” During this festive event, staff members collect new toys donated by the community. These toys are then spread across the training room floor for the dogs to choose from.

Each dog is allowed to run into the training room and select a toy to return to their kennel. Their reactions vary—some dogs eagerly dive into the pile, while others carefully choose their favorites.

Flounder, one of the shelter dogs, eagerly searches the room before settling on a knotted ball. Gizmo prefers a squeaky chicken or a rubber cow.

Chase opts for a cuddly Elf, while Janice is drawn to a squeaky Christmas pudding. Milo initially picks a donut but later changes his mind.

Buster proudly parades around the room with his pink ring. Bran can’t part with his blue octopus. Sasha selects a regal ball, and Missy goes for a Christmas cap.

These heartwarming moments of dogs picking their favorite toys have touched millions during the holiday season.
