Adopting a puppy is a heartwarming act that can transform a life. For many dogs, like the stray puppy named Stella, the joy of entering a loving home after countless nights on the streets is unimaginable.

Stella, a puppy struggling to survive, had been living on the streets, searching for food and shelter. Unfortunately, she often had to sleep on trash bags, making her existence even more precarious. Despite her tough circumstances, Stella remained hopeful that someone would rescue her.

That someone was Heather Martin, looking for a new furry friend. When Heather heard about Stella from a friend, she felt an instant connection and knew she had to meet her.

“A coworker shared with me about dogs outside Puerto Rico, so my husband and I looked at them. We fell in love with Stella right away,” Heather recalled.

Upon meeting, the bond was immediate. Heather described Stella as “loving, sweet, playful, and very curious”—qualities that made her an irresistible companion. Without hesitation, Heather decided to adopt her.

Stella’s journey to recovery began with a thorough vet examination, revealing her challenges.

Rescued from a landfill, she had endured severe scabies and intestinal parasites, weighing just 9 pounds at the time of her rescue.

However, Stella’s resilience shone through as she quickly recovered, transforming into a healthy, lively puppy filled with joy.

To further enrich Stella’s life, Heather adopted another dog from a local rescue, bringing home a furry sibling named Lulu. The two dogs quickly became inseparable, filling their home with playful energy and happiness.

Stella has become a true ray of sunshine in Heather’s life, offering love and companionship. “She knows when we need love and will embrace us. She wants nothing but love and is perfect,” Heather shared.

While Stella’s story has a happy ending, many dogs face the harsh realities of street life, scavenging for survival. Even small acts of kindness can make a significant difference for these animals.
