At eight, original Good Boy, affectionately known as OGB, found himself at the Humane Rescue Alliance in Washington, DC.

Later, he was transferred to St Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center in New Jersey, hoping for a loving family to take him in.

Despite his gentle demeanor, OGB remained unnoticed in the shelter, spending days longing for companionship until fate intervened.

Susan Wright, a compassionate 70-year-old, unexpectedly found herself drawn to OGB during a visit to the New Jersey shelter. Initially unassuming, OGB’s solemn appearance belied his endearing nature.

Moved by OGB’s plight—having spent an extended period without hope—Wright’s heart melted with empathy. Learning of his previous owner’s deep affection for him only intensified her desire to provide him a forever home.

Described by shelter staff as a love-seeking pup who thrived on affection and belly rubs, OGB’s reserved demeanor might have obscured his charms to potential adopters.

Yet, Wright embarked on a journey with OGB, taking him on excursions to the neighborhood and engaging a trainer to bridge their communication gap.

A bond blossomed between them through patience and understanding, cementing their companionship.

Wright’s daughters embraced OGB despite initial uncertainties, recognizing his unique qualities and handsome demeanor.

As their walks together became cherished, Wright realized she couldn’t bear to part with OGB when an adoption inquiry arose.

Thus, Wright fulfilled a promise to OGB—to provide him with a loving home—by welcoming him into her family. Renamed Ogee, OGB embarked on a new chapter of life filled with love and security.

In his new home, Ogee’s gentle nature shone brightly, exemplified by a touching encounter where he comforted a young boy injured in a fall.

Through such moments, Ogee’s innate kindness endeared him to his new family, reaffirming the transformative power of adoption.

From a sad senior pup to a vibrant family member, Ogee’s journey epitomizes the profound impact of finding a forever home.
