Cat Finds Forever Home After Months of Waiting for Someone to See Beyond His Grumpy Facade
Seymour, a nine-year-old Persian cat, spent several months at Homeward Bound Cat Adoptions, hoping to find a loving home.
His journey began when he arrived at the shelter, where his initial shyness and “grumpy old man” appearance made him appear less approachable to potential adopters.
Upon arrival, Seymour adjusted to his new environment, often observing from his favorite spot on a cat tree.
Despite his seemingly “moody” demeanor, Kimberly Wade from Homeward Bound Cat Adoptions noted that he had a charming side just waiting to shine through.
“He quickly let his sweet, attentive, curious, charming side take over – all you needed to do was look past the grumpy ole’ man syndrome,” she shared with Love Meow.
Although Seymour was not fond of being picked up and was shy initially, he deeply appreciated the good company and loved to be brushed and petted. The staff and volunteers said his grumpy appearance was merely a façade.
Seymour patiently waited for the right family to find him as days turned into weeks. Despite 86 successful adoptions in June, he remained at the shelter, observing as other cats found their forever homes.
“Perhaps his ‘grumpy’ demeanor or facial expressions push people away, but that’s only his first layer. Seymour loves to be where the humans are,” Wade explained.
After waiting a month, a volunteer introduced Seymour to her daughter. The young woman brought a brush and some of Seymour’s favorite treats during the visit. He gradually approached her as she sat beside him, showing signs of trust and acceptance.
“Once I met him and learned his story, I knew he just needed a little love and a quiet place to call home,” she remarked to Love Meow.
After nearly four months of searching, Seymour finally found his forever home. He quickly acclimated, claiming every corner of his new living space.
His new owner noted how Seymour lay on the floor with his paws folded, radiating a sense of wisdom. “Now, he runs our house like the little prince he was always meant to be,” she said.
No longer confined to one spot, Seymour now enjoys roaming freely throughout the house, often napping in various locations.
With his paws and belly pointed skyward, he seems to have left his worries behind. Once known as the shelter’s favorite grouch, Seymour is now relishing his new life as “the Persian Prince.”
The shelter staff couldn’t be happier for him, stating, “Our grumpy-faced, slightly moody yet wonderfully sweet Persian, who was [at the adoption center] much longer than we ever anticipated, is now home with the coolest cat-loving person we could hope for.”
