Mother Dog Walks 3 Kilometers Daily to Feed Her Puppies Before Rescue
A determined mother dog, now named Betty Boop, walked three kilometers every day to find food for her ten puppies in Fowler, Fresno, California.
After weeks of searching, Betty has been rescued, and her puppies are on their way to finding loving homes.
Locals first spotted Betty wandering in search of food shortly after she gave birth. This alarming situation came to the attention of Krystle Woodward, founder of the animal rescue group Pinkie Paws Risk.
Krystle learned about Betty’s plight two months ago, but despite multiple attempts, the dog remained elusive until last Thursday.
In a heartfelt Facebook post, Krystle shared, “Betty surprised Bob during my break at work.” She recounted how her husband quickly drove the truck to rescue Betty during her lunch hour.
Over thirty concerned individuals had witnessed Betty scouring the city outskirts for food to feed her puppies during the previous three to four weeks.
Krystle emphasized the emotional toll this situation took on her, saying, “I cried all night when the doctor told me that she was breastfeeding. I was thinking about all those puppies starving to death.”
In a frantic attempt to return to her puppies, Betty tried to escape from her temporary shelter, climbing the fence in her determination to reunite with her little ones. With Betty safely rescued, Krystle immediately set out to locate the puppies.
Fortunately, the ten puppies were discovered in the basement of an abandoned property. An elementary school student, Kenneth Stoen assisted in the rescue after being contacted by a friend of Krystle’s.
All healthy puppies have been named Amber, Citrine, Copper, Jade, Jasper, Agate, Carnelian, Pearl, Rubello, and Sage.
Krystle expressed her deep connection with Betty: “She trusted me just to show me where her children were, and that pierced my heart; that’s why I adore them.”
Thanks to the efforts of the community and the rescue team, Betty Boop and her puppies are now safe and will soon find forever homes.
