Actor and former WWE wrestler Dave Bautista has adopted a pit bull puppy named Penny, who had a rough start in life but is now set for a much brighter future.

Penny was found in a cemetery, eating trash, with a metal chain tightly wrapped around her neck. A good Samaritan spotted the three-month-old pit bull and took her to the Humane Society of Tampa Bay (HSTB).

After being examined by medical staff, it was clear that Penny’s condition was dire: she had overgrown nails and skin issues and needed immediate surgery to remove the chain.

Upon hearing about Penny’s situation, Dave Bautista, a known pit bull lover, acted quickly. He contacted the shelter to express his interest in adopting the puppy and offering his support.

The actor also pledged $5,000 to anyone who could provide information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for Penny’s abuse, adding to a combined reward of $6,500 from HSTB and Alvarez Injury Law.

Despite his tough exterior, Bautista couldn’t help but smile and laugh as he first met Penny. The bond was instant, with the puppy happily running into his arms.

Not only was Dave thrilled to welcome Penny into his family, but so were his two other rescued pit bulls.

Bautista shared a video on Instagram, introducing Penny to his followers and promising that she was about to enjoy her “finest puppy life ever.”

The Humane Society of Tampa Bay also announced the adoption on its Facebook page, receiving an outpouring of support and enthusiasm for the heartwarming story.

This act of kindness shows that even in the face of cruelty, heroes are always willing to step up and give a deserving animal a loving home. We’re delighted that Penny has found her forever home with Dave Bautista.
