Taka, a nine-year-old Shiba Inu, has transformed a tragic past into a source of hope and comfort for others. In 2018, Taka suffered severe burns in a house fire that left him blind and injured.

After recovering at the Care More Animal Hospital, he was adopted by Crystal Leslie, a veterinary technician who formed a special bond with him during his treatment.

Taka quickly became a favorite among the hospital staff, but his connection with Leslie stood out. Moved by his resilience and spirit, Leslie decided to adopt Taka permanently.

She also saw potential in him to help others, especially those who had been through similar traumatic experiences and enrolled him in therapy dog training.

The fire that changed Taka’s life broke out while resting at his family’s home. As the flames spread, his family was forced to evacuate without him.
