Family Dog Joins Baby’s First Photoshoot, and the Pictures Are Adorable
When Brandon and Kelly Madsen welcomed their first child, Tyler, in February of last year, they had a surprise addition to their newborn’s photoshoot—Bentley, the family’s Goldendoodle.
Bentley, their “first child” since 2017, insisted on joining the photo session, creating heartwarming images of the family’s new chapter.
Bentley, a 5-year-old Goldendoodle, is described by Kelly as “goofy, funny, smart, devoted, and affectionate.”
Although he’s part of the family, the Madsens initially hesitated to introduce him to their newborn son.
To ease the transition, they sent home a blanket and hat from the hospital that smelled like Tyler.
“Two days after we left the hospital, we let Bentley greet and sniff Tyler while we pet and loved him,” Kelly recalled. This began a special bond between the dog and the baby.
As Tyler grew, so did his friendship with Bentley, especially after the baby started throwing bits of food for the dog. Whether during nap time or playtime, Bentley was always nearby.
The Madsens decided to capture this particular time in a photoshoot, doing it themselves instead of hiring a professional photographer.
“We set everything up, and as soon as Tyler was in position, Bentley appeared!” Kelly said. The dog had to be close to Tyler, often lying next to him or resting his head on the baby.
It’s been a year since that memorable photoshoot, and Bentley remains a constant presence in Tyler’s life.
For Tyler’s first birthday in February, the Madsens took photos to commemorate the occasion, and Bentley was right by his side.
“Bentley and Tyler’s adventures have only just begun!” Kelly remarked, suggesting that Bentley might even be Tyler’s first word.
