Two kittens, Winston and Miller, are a testament to resilience, overcoming a rough start in life and expressing heartwarming gratitude to the people who saved them.

At only 3 to 4 days old, Winston and Miller were found abandoned in a bag covered in debris. Sadly, they were the only survivors from their litter.

Gianna Cirucci and her sister Gab, co-founders of Foster the Furbabies, heard about the kittens and quickly took them in to provide the care they desperately needed.

“For the first two weeks, they wouldn’t eat on their own, so I had to tube-feed them every two hours,” Gianna said.

It was a tense time. Gianna worked tirelessly, giving the kittens constant attention and care. Each visit to the foster room was filled with uncertainty as she prepared herself for the worst. Despite the challenges, she kept them fed, warm, and clean.

After numerous vet visits and sleepless nights, the kittens finally began to show signs of improvement.

Their stomach issues started to clear up, and a big breakthrough came when they began feeding from a bottle.

“The moment I felt hopeful was around the three-week mark when they started taking the bottle well and no longer needed tube-feeding,” Gianna shared.

Winston, born with extra toes (polydactyl), became an affectionate kitten, constantly seeking cuddles.

Miller, his loyal brother, was never far from his side. But just as things seemed to stabilize, the kittens were diagnosed with calicivirus after previously battling infections and digestive issues.

“They’ve been through so much in their short lives,” Gianna said. Yet, through all the hurdles, she never gave up on them. Winston, in turn, never stopped purring, kneading with his oversized paws whenever he was in her arms.

The kittens have come a long way thanks to their dedicated foster family and veterinary team. Winston is particularly attached to Gianna.

“He runs to me as soon as he sees me and begs to be picked up. He loves kissing and pressing his nose against mine,” she said.

While slightly more independent, Miller enjoys affection too, especially belly rubs. Despite their small size, both kittens have big personalities and infectious purrs.

Their playful antics keep everyone entertained, zooming around the room and bouncing off walls.

“After playing, they usually find their way to my lap for a nap,” Gianna shared, laughing. “Winston prefers me over food, but Miller chooses food over me.”

Having faced so much together, the bond between Winston and Miller is unbreakable. They bring endless joy to their foster family, filling the room with their constant purring. Gianna hopes to find a forever home for them both, where they can stay together.

“I love that they’ve had each other through the highs and lows. They’re very bonded, and I’m hopeful they’ll find a home where they can continue to be together.”
