Street Kitten Who Hissed at Everyone Learns to Love Life as a Lap Cat
A street kitten once found hiding behind window bars and hissing at everyone has transformed into a loving lap cat after being rescued and cared for.
The tiny tuxedo kitten was discovered by a volunteer from PuppyKittyNYCity, concealed behind the window bars of a building.
Alone and without a mother or siblings, he was small and sick but determined to defend himself. The volunteer swiftly acted, bringing the feisty kitten to the rescue for much-needed help.
“A foster (volunteer) found him and brought him to us. He had an upper respiratory infection and was very hissy,” PuppyKittyNYCity shared with Love Meow.
The kitten, later named Brat, was in rough condition. His eyes were watery, his nose was congested, and his coat was dirty.
Despite his frail state, he showed incredible strength and determination. The volunteer used a makeshift carrier—a cardboard box lined with a pair of pants—to transport him safely to the rescue.
Once at the shelter, the team gently cleaned his face, dried him off, and provided him with food and water.
Although Brat continued to hiss and spit, his fighting spirit was a testament to his survival instincts on the streets.
Brat’s recovery journey began when Hannah, a foster volunteer, took him in. She created a safe and cozy space for him to heal and adjust.
Slowly, Brat realized he no longer needed to fight for his survival. His attitude began to shift as he enjoyed the warmth and security of his new environment.
With consistent care, Brat’s condition improved. His eyes cleared, his appetite returned, and he regained his energy.
Although still mischievous and full of spunk, Brat’s hisses turned into purrs, and he began to crave affection, often curling up in his foster mom’s lap.
As he grew more confident, Brat’s playful side emerged. He entertained himself by hopping and pouncing around, even charming the resident cats and a dog named Red.
Despite his small size, Brat would bravely wrestle with Red, showing off his spirited personality while often sticking out his tongue in an endearing way.
In just a few weeks, Brat had fully embraced life as a lap cat. His story reached a family through social media, and they quickly fell in love with him. When they met the little tuxedo in person, they were clearly meant to be together.
Brat is now living his best life with his forever family, spending his days snuggled in their laps, holding hands, and purring non-stop as their cherished companion.
