In a world where some animals are denied a slim chance at life, the story of Lucky, a small albino puppy, is a remarkable tale of survival and perseverance.

His journey from the brink of death to a loving home in California shows just how much can be achieved with determination and a big heart.

Lucky’s story began with tragedy. A backyard breeder abandoned a litter of puppies after their mother died from bleeding.

These helpless newborns, no more than three days old, were found clinging to life. Clanay Reza, an independent animal rescuer in California, was contacted by a neighbor of the breeder and asked to help.

Reza responded immediately, finding the tiny pups in dire condition. Among them, Lucky was the weakest, barely the size of a baby hamster.

He was given almost no chance of survival. Despite the grim outlook, Reza wasn’t about to give up on him.

She spent days feeding him with a unique formula every 20 minutes, often staying awake to ensure he was still breathing.

“I never knew if tomorrow was promised for him,” Reza wrote on Instagram. “Lucky’s first eight weeks of life, I hardly ever slept. I would stay up watching him, ensuring he was still alive and breathing.”

Sadly, the other puppies in the litter didn’t make it, leaving Lucky as the sole survivor. As the weeks passed, he gradually grew more muscular, but his health challenges persisted.

When his eyes opened, he was diagnosed with a yeast infection and a corneal ulcer, ultimately leading to the removal of one eye. Reza also discovered that Lucky had albinism, likely due to inbreeding.

Despite these hurdles, Lucky’s fighting spirit never wavered. His first year was filled with ups and downs, but Reza’s love and dedication helped him through it all. She noted that his resilience only made her bond with him more robust.

“He’s had a rollercoaster of a life his first year, but I am thankful for all the bumps in the road we had with him,” Reza wrote. “They just made my love for him grow stronger.”

Lucky is a happy and healthy 8-year-old dog with a beautiful family today. His playful personality, fluffy fur, and affectionate nature make him the heart of the household.

He recently welcomed a new baby sister into the family, and he can’t get enough of her, always by her side and ready for a nap.

Lucky’s transformation from an abandoned pup with little hope to a beloved family member is a testament to the power of love and determination. He’s living proof that even the unlikeliest of stories can have a happy ending.
