Shy Kitten Rescued from McDonald’s Drive-Thru Transforms in Foster Care
Last Friday, Clare, a volunteer with Saving Stevie, a cat rescue organization, received a message about a stray kitten spotted at a local McDonald’s.
“The kitty had been there since Monday,” Saving Stevie reported. “She was small and clearly in need of help, approaching cars and crying but fleeing whenever a door opened.”
After seeing the kitten’s photos, Clare quickly gathered her rescue supplies and headed to the drive-thru. “I jumped in the car and went to get her,” Clare told Love Meow.
When she arrived, Clare found the frightened kitten sitting beneath the speaker where customers placed their orders.
Though anxious, the kitten waited, likely hoping for food after days of being alone and hungry. “She was skittish and ran away when I approached her,” Clare noted.
Clare set up a humane trap with food inside, and within five minutes, the hungry kitten walked in. With the kitten safely caught, Clare took her home and provided a quiet space for her to acclimate, naming her Apple.
Initially scared and disoriented, Apple scanned her new surroundings anxiously. However, her fear soon shifted to curiosity as she began exploring her haven.
With abundant food and a comfy bed, Apple quickly warmed up to Clare. “She was afraid of me for just three minutes before realizing she was safe and started to show affection,” Clare recounted.
Apple discovered the bathroom sink and claimed it as her throne. Whenever she heard Clare’s voice, she would eagerly turn to her, asking for head scratches and rubbing against her to soak in the affection.
“She is incredibly loving, purring loudly and constantly rubbing her face on me. It’s clear she was meant to be indoors,” Clare said.
Apple allowed Clare to clean her up and snuggle her in a towel. Before long, she climbed onto Clare’s shoulders to survey her new environment and eventually curled up in her arms, completely relaxed.
When not nestled with Clare, Apple stays close by, making up for her lonely days outdoors. Her gentle purring fills the room as she cuddles, and she has blossomed into a loving companion nearly a week after moving inside.
“Her favorite thing to do right now is cuddle,” Clare shared. Apple appears content with a safe home and the assurance of regular meals.
Once waiting at the drive-thru for a hero, she is now thriving in foster care, cherishing every moment with her new family.
