When Jackie was first brought into Katrina Frank’s household, she was expected to be a beloved pet.
However, Jackie decided to express her gratitude by taking on a protective role, guarding what she deemed the most valuable possession in the house—loaves of bread.
It began shortly after the family moved to their farm, and ever since, Jackie has made it her mission to safeguard the bread every time the family leaves the house.
Katrina Frank, Jackie’s owner, explains that Jackie is incredibly resourceful when finding the bread, regardless of where it’s stored.
“We have a bread box, so she likes to hop up and pull it out of there,” she said. “If I leave it in the pantry, she nudges the door open and gets it out. I’ve even put it in the refrigerator, and she has opened the door to get it.”
Jackie then takes the bread to a secure spot to guard it. “She likes to put it behind the couch and lay by it. Otherwise, she puts it in the closet in my bedroom,” Katrina said. Jackie’s loyalty is unwavering; she never takes a bite of the bread she protects.
On rare occasions when the family runs out of bread, Jackie adapts by guarding other baked goods. “Once, she took a Tupperware of cookies off the counter and hid all 17 individually without breaking any. She led me to all of them,” Katrina noted.
Jackie’s story has gained popularity online, with many admiring her dedication and unique sense of responsibility.
Despite her fierce protection of the bread, Jackie has proven to be a loyal and caring family memory, never taking more than she guards.
