Deaf Cat Finds Comfort and Joy in Her New Foster Home
Rescuers from Little Wanderers NYC recently stepped in to save several cats from hoarding in a cluttered, unsanitary apartment.
With support from Animal Care Centers, they carefully gathered each cat, but one in particular caught their attention with her striking blue eyes, filled with exhaustion and relief.
After a thorough check-up and a much-needed bath, the cat’s demeanor softened as she felt safe. She gratefully accepted pets and scratches from volunteers, relaxing and purring contentedly. Soon, she was lovingly named “Cloud 9” and moved into a foster home.
Cloud 9’s foster environment was a stark contrast to the crowded conditions she came from. With ample space, cozy furniture, and big windows for watching the world go by, she blossomed.
For the first time, she didn’t have to fight for food or a place to rest. When she found the soft bed, she immediately sprawled out, sleeping peacefully.
Her foster family quickly noticed that Cloud 9 was deaf, a trait common in all-white cats, but this didn’t affect her spirit.
She explored her new surroundings enthusiastically, investigating every corner from the bedroom to the bathroom sink, where she was captivated by the running water.
Despite her hearing loss, Cloud 9 has an engaging and playful personality. She eagerly follows her people around the house, always happy to receive attention and treats. Her favorite perch is by a screened window where she watches birds and breathes in fresh air.
“Like many all-white animals, her hearing is impaired, but despite that, she’s adventurous and full of energy,” shared Little Wanderers NYC. “She’ll do best as an only cat in a home without kids, as sudden movements can startle her.”
Living solo in her foster home has allowed Cloud 9 to embrace her playful side fully. She delights in chasing sunbeams on the walls and snuggling into any box she finds, no matter its size.
Her pure white fur and striking blue eyes make her a beautiful presence in her foster home, often lounging in her favorite spots, from the couch to even the top of the fridge.
After spending four joyful months with her foster family, Cloud 9 is ready to find a permanent home where she can continue to enjoy the love and comfort she has grown to cherish.
Though she may not hear, she’s truly living her best life, savoring each quiet moment and every bit of affection as she waits for her forever family.
