Imagine preparing for an exciting new beginning, only to be disappointed at the last minute. This was Vicente’s experience, an adorable puppy dressed in a tuxedo, ready to meet his new family—only for his adoption to be canceled the day before he was set to go home.

Vicente’s adoption was initially arranged through Fundación Rescatame, a nonprofit organization dedicated to animal rescue in La Calera, Colombia.

On September 9, the rescue shared heartbreaking photos of Vicente on their Facebook page, capturing the moment when his adoption fell through at the last minute.

The rescue team expressed their disappointment, saying, “Vicente’s supposed adopter never showed up. He was all cleaned up, dressed, and prepared to go home, only to be left without one.

This is why we’re so thorough in our adoption process—we want to ensure our animals are truly cared for with a family committed to life. Adopting a pet is a long-term responsibility, not something to abandon on a whim.”

However, there is a brighter side to Vicente’s story. The rescue’s post quickly gained traction online, with over 3,000 shares across social media, drawing an outpouring of support and new adoption offers. Just a few days later, Vicente found a loving forever home with a family who cherished him deeply.

Vicente’s new family even shared updates, proudly posting pictures of their happy pup, now well-settled in his permanent home.

Although Vicente’s story had a happy ending, Fundación Rescatame continues its work with 40 more dogs awaiting adoption. This year alone, the organization has successfully rehomed over 200 dogs.

As stated on their Facebook page, Fundación Rescatame is a “nonprofit committed to fighting animal cruelty, and rescuing, protecting, and caring for abandoned animals.”

The organization firmly believes in providing a second chance to all animals, regardless of breed, age, or gender.
